Sarma elected secretary of All Odisha Chess Association

Krushna Kumar Sarma of Ganjam district was elected secretary of All Odisha Chess Association (AOCA) today. He succeeded Vivek Kumar Tibarewal of Cuttack. International Master Sekhar Chandra Sahu, who also represents Ganjam district, retained his post as president.

Election of office-bearers for a four-year term (2016-2019) was carried out in the Annual General Body Meeting of of the apex state body here at KIIT University. A total of 20 district associations, along with three other affiliated units participated in the AGM.

World Chess Federation (FIDE) vice-president D V Sundar and All India Chess Federation CEO Bharat Singh Chauhan were present in the AGM as the observers. Among new office-bearers, Itee Samanta, sister of KIIT & KISS founder Dr Achyuta Samanta, was elected as one of the two vice-presidents.
